Àpat 2023
Àpat is an innovative and introspective transmedia project that captures the communicative essence emanating from the ancestral ritual of eating.
Since the dawn of humanity, the primal need to nourish oneself has been woven into everyday life. The meal, seemingly commonplace, ascends to an exceptional status, often overlooked but brimming with profound communicative richness. Therefore, the daily ceremony has evolved, acquiring nuances of intrinsic communication. Moreover, it serves as a framework to resolve conflicts, debate issues and solutions, and expose the most intimate nuances of human feelings and emotions. What’s more, it becomes an opportunity to meet strangers, connect with oneself, and explore personal identity.
Altogether, the project presents itself as a multifaceted view of this essential yet complex act. Anchored in contemporary Mediterranean culture, it aims to reflect the diversity of realities surrounding this ritual: from the most enriching experiences to the most challenging moments, capturing the subtleties of our relationship with food and communication in a globalized context. Certainly, through a range of transmedia mediums, from the university website to audiovisual, photographic, and interactive narrative elements, “Àpat” seeks to weave an enriching and reflective narrative. As a result, the project explores the multiple layers of experiences and relationships that converge in the simple act of sharing a table, in an effort to capture the complexity and beauty of the communicative space surrounding this essential ritual in human life.
