Ayün 2021

Ayün. A Matter of Gender is a project carried out by students in the Audiovisual and Multimedia Communication degree.

The core of the project is the filming of the short film Ayün, and therefore, this research is aimed at its ideation. In the creation of Ayün, there will be an examination of the hierarchy and power roles so prevalent in the patriarchal system, placing new forms of leadership, the importance of care, and the promotion of cooperation at the forefront. This research serves as a theoretical framework to give meaning to the intention of revising behaviors resulting from the integration of a system that legitimizes values such as selfishness, individualism, and power.

Regarding the script of the short film, Ayün questions gender binarism. Ayün, the protagonist of the story, has had an unconventional upbringing without the imposition of gender roles and identifies freely as a non-binary person. They and their mothers live in a communal and safe environment, but when the time comes to move to the city, will Ayün feel the same freedom to express their gender identity?
