Discover X-Trudio, the 3D Lab at ERAM
The 3D Lab at ERAM School of the Arts – UdG is a space where creativity and technology come together to explore the possibilities offered by the three-dimensional universe.
Under the mentorship of professor Sergio Cuervo, who teaches 3D I, II, and III, Audiovisual Design, and Immersive Reality for the Bachelor’s Degree in Audiovisual and Multimedia Communication, students have the opportunity to participate in and learn from both internal and external 3D projects in collaboration with companies or organizations.
X-Trudio focuses on providing real-world scenarios to enhance training in the 3D field, adjusting tasks based on the preferences and interests of participating students. Check out X-Trudio’s ArtStation to see all the projects developed in the courses. If you’re interested in this sector, we encourage you to join the Lab!
3D Modeling and Texturing Projects
3D modeling and texturing are fundamental processes for creating three-dimensional objects and environments in digital settings. Their main use is to bring environments and characters to life, making them both aesthetic and realistic, allowing ideas to be transformed into tangible works within the virtual world.
They are highly useful for working in sectors such as animation, video games, virtual reality, advertising, and audiovisual production.
During the 2024-2025 academic year, a collaboration was carried out with the Mercat Municipal del Lleó in Girona to recreate its character in 3D.
During the 2023-2024 academic year, a collaboration was carried out with Girona-based artist Jordi Codina Negre, the illustrator of the adventure comic Siset Agent Especial. The teaser for the 3D movie “La colla de la Cocollona” was developed.
3D Printing Projects: Merchandise
3D printing is a rapidly growing technique that allows for the creation of customized and unique products quickly and efficiently. A three-dimensional model is created, which can then be transformed into a physical object using a 3D printer. This process involves adding layers of material (usually plastic, resin, or other polymers) until the complete object is built.
Additionally, it can be applied in the professional world for design and prototyping before mass production, to create detailed architectural models in architecture and engineering, in the health sector to produce prosthetics or implants, and in the art sector to create unique pieces or limited editions.
At X-Trudio, 3D printers are used to create university merchandise and small project samples.
VFX Projects
Visual Effects (VFX) are digital techniques used to create or manipulate images that are otherwise difficult to obtain in reality. Real and digital elements are combined to generate visual effects such as fictional settings, computer-generated characters, or physical phenomena like rain, fire, explosions, etc.
Here we can see some small exercises that have been carried out within the ERAM environment.
Virtual Reality (VR) Projects: Immersive Experiences
Virtual Reality (VR) is a technology that creates a simulated digital environment where users can interact as if it were the real world. This is achieved using specialized devices that stimulate the senses (primarily sight, hearing, and sometimes touch or movement). These immersive experiences aim to recreate a sense of presence for the user in this digital environment.
Here we can see the project that has been developed by X-Trudio, which will continue to be worked on in the coming years, to recreate the ERAM School of Arts in a digital environment.
